The Chattanooga Partnership for College Access & Success
utilizes college students who are alumni of the
target
schools to serve as
paid summer college outreach interns to encourage more
students to go to college. Interns work closely with
PCAS, their high school, and their home community to develop
plans and facilitate
summer-long projects that encourage high school students
to attend college after graduation.
The interns lead group
meetings, hold one-on-one sessions with students, and
also conduct home visits in order to involve the student's family. The
interns report that the experience is rewarding and educational
for themselves as well as for the students whom they serve.
